Pierre has just pulled this one from the oven, and he knows it's good.
Look at that face — eyes crinkled shut, grin barely contained in the beard. He's the elf baker, and he's cradling a golden baguette nearly as long as his arm, still warm, held the way you'd hold something you're proud of. He's dressed head to toe for the trade: the tall white baker's hat, red oven mitts, and a proper working apron over his green jacket — turn him around and you'll find the straps crossed neatly at the back and the ties knotted at the ends, the kind of detail the sewing room never skipped, even where almost no one would look.
Pierre was designed by my grandfather Robert "Bob" Simpich, and everything about him is baked-in warmth: a small French baker at the end of a good morning's work, bread in hand, somewhere in the elf woods of Colorado.
