First, the condition. This model includes both a rifle and a turkey — delicate sculptural elements that are often chipped, cracked, or even missing altogether in older pieces. Not so here. This Pilgrim Man has been exceptionally well preserved, making it one of the finest examples we’ve encountered.
Second, this figure is signed by Robert Simpich, co-founder of the Simpich studio. To our knowledge, this is the only signed Pilgrim Man we’ve ever seen, making it a truly unique and collectible piece for any serious Simpich enthusiast.

Squanto from the Simpich Thanksgiving series, holding the gift his story is remembered for: two ears of corn, one gold and one deep red, still in their husks.
Squanto (Tisquantum) was a Patuxet man who had been taken across the ocean to Europe and made his way back, only to find his village gone. Because of that journey he spoke English when he met the Plymouth colonists in 1621. He showed them how to plant corn in this new ground, and that harvest is the one the first Thanksgiving gave thanks for.
Look closely at the details. He has deep lines across his brow and chin, a topknot with a beaded strand and a single feather, a bead earring, and a black-and-white bead necklace tied with leather. A full gray fur drape runs from his shoulder to below his knee. His suede tunic ends in a fringed hem with stitched detail, and his leggings are laced up the side and tied at the knee. He stands in sculpted moccasins on a wooden base.
He was cast from the original sculpt, then hand-painted and dressed in hand-sewn clothing in the Simpich doll shop. No more are being made.

The Native American Woman joined the Simpich Thanksgiving Collection much later than Squanto and the Pilgrims, so she was in production for far fewer years than the figures she stands beside.
Designed by Jan Simpich, she looks upward and holds a shallow woven basket of the harvest: a green squash brushed with orange, a pale gourd, red berries and a cluster of dark purple fruit. Squash was grown alongside corn and beans, and her basket makes a natural companion to the corn Squanto carries.
Look closely at her dress. Fringe runs across the yoke, along both sleeves and around the hem, and a chain-stitched line traces the yoke and the hemline. Beaded turquoise triangles sit at her chest and her hem, the lower one framing a small shell, and they’re surrounded by little red-and-white beaded flowers. She wears a shell pendant strung with turquoise and red beads, small turquoise earrings, leggings with notched cuffs, and red-brown moccasins on a wooden base.
She was cast from Jan’s original design, then hand-painted, beaded, and dressed in hand-sewn clothing in the Simpich doll shop. No more are being made.
