Condition: Heirloom | Signed by Jan Simpich | Base dated 2005

Miss Noel was one of the last Carollers Jan Simpich ever added to the collection. She arrived near the end of the studio's run, was made for only a short time, and left the shop in small numbers. Among the ultra rare Carollers she is the youngest face, and one of the hardest to find.

She's caught mid-song, chin lifted and mouth open on a high note, in a hooded coat of dove-grey ultrasuede with a deep black fur collar and two polished silver ball buttons. The hood frames a head of auburn hair and wide brown eyes. Her hands are tucked into a black fur muff trimmed with a sprig of felt holly and three red berries, the only bright color on her until you look down: beneath the hem of the coat is a full skirt of red, black and green tartan shot through with a fine gold check, with a peek of white lace petticoat showing at her ankles. From behind, the coat is belted at the waist with a single back vent that lets the tartan show through, a tailoring detail most makers would never bother with on a figure this size.

This particular Miss Noel is in heirloom condition and stands on her original walnut base with the gold Simpich Character Dolls label. The base is hand-signed in ink by Jan Simpich and dated 2005, which places her squarely in the final chapter of the studio and makes her, for a collector, both a rare design and a documented, signed piece from the artist's own hand.
