“Merry Christmas to all, and God bless us, everyone.”
This timeless line helped make Christmas the cultural cornerstone it is today. Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Caroltransformed what was once a modest holiday into the celebration of generosity and joy we know and love. And I think I speak for the entire Simpich family when I say we feel forever indebted to Dickens for crafting such an enduring story that so beautifully echoes the meaning of the season itself.
Robert and Jan Simpich shared that same gratitude. They spent countless hours bringing Dickens’ vision to life through a full series of Simpich Dolls depicting the events of that fateful Christmas Eve—from Scrooge, wrapped in his red nightgown with years of bitterness etched into his face, to the Ghost of Christmas Present, the largest of all Simpich Character Dolls, and the Cratchit Family with Tiny Tim perched on his father’s shoulder.
Yet as the Simpich Doll Shop entered its final chapter, Robert felt something was missing—the end of the story. Scrooge couldn’t remain forever grumpy in the Simpich depiction of the Christmas classic. The joy of Christmas morning had to be captured.
And so, Bob and Jan designed this special edition of 800 pieces, revisiting Tiny Tim—but this time, he sits happily on Scrooge’s knee, celebrating a new day: Christmas Day.
The icing on the Christmas pudding is that this particular piece—No. 191 of 800—is signed by Robert Simpich himself, making it a truly remarkable heirloom in both artistry and spirit.
