After exploring a number of story concepts in the late 90's, David returned to a gothic literary classic for his fifteenth marionette production. In The Secret Garden, based on Frances Hodgson Burnett's famous novel, David portrayed Archibald Craven, the reclusive, hunched-backed uncle of the recently orphaned and embittered Mary Lennox. The story is brought to life as he reflects on the death of his lovely wife and her beautiful walled garden -- and the providential events leading to Mary's discovery of its hidden beauty. The play premiered at Mount Saint Francis Auditorium in October 2002 and was performed nationally through August of 2003. |
