The Hans Christian Andersen |
|
In honor of the Simpich's second daughter, Gwendolyn, David created this play as a celebration of the style and themes of Andersen's fairytales. The presentation establishes an "imaginary dialogue" between the author and some of his most famous storybook creations and centers on the character of the Ugly Duckling and his serious concern over Andersen's development of his storyline. Other famous characters join Andersen in sharing their stories and cheering the Ugly Duckling on towards the revelation waiting in the final scene of his tale. The Hans Christian Andersen Storybook premiered at the Broadmoor Hotel in 1994 and was revived in 2003. |
